St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a historic, inactive church building in Gallion (formerly Prairieville), Alabama. Owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, it has been designated a National Historic Landmark.

History & Architecture

• 1834: Organized as a mission for settlers from the Atlantic Seaboard.
• 1844: Became a parish in the Diocese of Alabama.
• 1853: Current Carpenter Gothic Revival building constructed.
• Features: Red board-and-batten exterior, wooden buttresses, large door on strap iron hinges, original pews, organ, and stained glass.

Current Use

Though the church has no active parish, services are held there once or twice a year, hosted by page-101263 of Demopolis:

• Spring Homecoming: Typically features the annual bishop's visit and sacraments, such as the May 2012 service (news-3153178).
• Fall Homecoming: Sacraments and homecoming services, such as the October 2013 service (news-3161913).
