Christopher Reis Sheffield, our organist

In 1985, at the age of 15, Chris began his musical career serving as pianist at a local church in Tuscaloosa. This year, 2026, marks his 41st consecutive year in church music ministry, whether it be as choral director, organist, or pianist. After high school, and several semesters at Shelton State, Chris began his undergraduate studies at Huntingdon College, in Montgomery, which included piano, organ, and composition; He was also the accompanist for vocal majors, all college choral groups, and the college ballet rehearsal accompanist. Being a consistent member of  school or church choirs early in life, Chris polished his choral skills  under his composition professor, and, in 1994, his choral setting of the church  mass was published. Throughout his music career Chris has gained experience in both the catholic and protestant churches. Chris shares that he began his life-long journey as a Christian  at the age of 7, being baptized at a local church in Tuscaloosa in 1977. He has a 25-year-old son, who lives with him in their home in Tuscaloosa.
